Waze girlpower ends and wazerette selected as winner

Just a quick note to let you know that the waze girlpower initiative is now over. We've informed the winner, but have yet to hear back, so no announcement of a name at this moment. Should we not hear back within a reasonable amount of time, we'll move to the second random wazerette we selected, and go from there. Nevertheless, a big thank you to all of you who participated and to those of you who helped us spread the word - we really saw a response that 'moved the dial' for us in terms of the number of women using our app, and that's great!

  2. Unfair...
there are those who would have just installed while those who really clocked some points. How does a 'random' selection justify this?

I know of a wazerette that overtook Oregon in a matter of a week or so. She a true Wazeaholic! If its going to be random, at least make randomly selected from the top users/contributors.

  4. I agree with Bennet. All those miles clocked and have to rely on random selection process. Disappointing :(

  5. We hear what you guys are saying and will take these points into consideration for the next time we set something up of this nature, but luckily the power of the 'random' is a force to be reckoned with: our winner filed a solid 29 road reports after downloading the app 2 weeks ago, so this was no one tweet wonder.
Luckily y'all have another chance with the waze worldcup, so make sure you're munchin' soccer balls on your way to and from work, or wherever it is that you go...

  7. Haha so the winner was selected, waze says they live in Mexico, but any research shows they live in Kansas. Easier to fake a Mexico ID i guess^^

  8. Ben,
We publicized her waze username only, she tweets with a different username. Also, I received her mailing address and it is in Mexico city. And anyway, you're a boy! You couldn't win anyway ;-)
    Looks alright to us!

  9. haha ok my fault I was going off the twitter account! and yes I know I couldn't win, just wanted to make sure it was given to a legit account, since so many comps get won by bot!

    Congrats then to the winner!

  10. Who ended up winning this? They never said whether the winner contacted Waze back, if they selected an alternate winner etc?
