Come up with waze's new tagline and win yourself a new iPad 2!

“Way to Go” has served us well over the last few years, but we’re ready for a new tagline, so we’re turning to you to see what you guys got for us…

We’ll be accepting your submissions March 1-11, after which, we’ll pick 10 finalists for the public to vote on. The winner will get a brand-spankin’-new iPad 2 (the one coming out on March 1!), and the 9 other finalists will get some fun waze goodie bags.

Timeline: Submission period March 1-11, Waze judging March 11-14, Public voting March 14-20, Winner announced on March 21!

So…how to get going on dreaming up waze’s next tagline?

  • A good place to start is with product benefits – think about what waze does for you and fashion that into a little slogan.

  • Or, think about what differentiates waze from the competition and use that idea as a base for your tagline.

  • You can also focus on the ‘pain point’ of traffic, and how waze provides a solution, the way drivers collaborate together, or maybe think about what might compel others to check waze out if these few words were all that they knew about what we have to offer…

Whatever method you go with, make sure to keep the tone consistent with how we like to think of our brand: informal, friendly and (if we can be so bold…) terribly cute ;-)

Please note that there is only one entry, per Facebook profile, and that you should put the same text for both the ‘Title’ and ‘Tagline’ sections, however, we'll only be looking at the 'Tagline' section.

A couple more tips:

  • Try to communicate one simple idea, clearly

  • Opt for just a few words – probably about 3-5, or so

  • Make sure your submission is in English

Here are a few keywords to get your creative juices going:
Traffic, Navigation, Social, Collaboration, Fun, Crowdsourced, Useful, Road, Free, Travel, Commuting, Daily Driving, Route,GPS, Solution, Rerouted, Working together, Drivers, Community

To submit your tagline, click here. Good luck, you guys! Hope you come up with something great…

(Oh, and if you’re not familiar already, a tagline is a memorable slogan – usually made up from just a few words – that sums up the tone and premise of a brand or product, ie: Nike’s “Just do it”.)

  1. The contest won't let me submit. I tried the Login with Facebook link and allowed it, but it bounced to same page with Login with Facebook button.

  11. ops! I found out in the rules that the submission must have the same title and tagline!
My submission has a title and a tagline which are different (by the way, why to add a title if it has to be equal to the tagline? it seems a nonsense to me!).
Anyway, is this making my submission void?!? I meant my tagline being the words in field "tagline". Forget what's in the title. I used the same mail account that I'm using to post this message.

  12. Hi Briviao...The title/tagline thing is indeed non-ideal, but we're working with a system that was not able to be customized. Nevertheless, the title is unimportant. We'll only be looking at the tagline itself, so, not to worry, you're good!
Everyone else...please submit your taglines via the link in the post. Unfortunately, none posted here will be part of the contest itself...
    Good luck all!

  14. The submission website asks for a facebook account before submitting, what about those who don't have Facebook account ???

  15. I wanted to view other people's tag line ideas, but the link says "none found." What gives?

  16. I do not see entries there
It says no entries (and mine is not there also)

  17. Experienced the same problem as Heath and couldn't submit. Could you please see and see what's keeping most people from submitting?

  18. What if we don't have a Facebook account? I don't want to sign up with them just for this. There should be an alternate method of entering the contest.

  20. The submission button doesn't work for me. The box is titled Entry Validation, I already "like" Waze and I click Confirm Your Entry and the page reloads.

  21. Terrible... Why must we log into Facebook to enter the contest? unreal...

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Blah: only one entry per person: so facebook is a good way to be sure a person enters only once...well one can create multiples facebook accounts but this takes some time....

  23. @briviao ahhh, ok, thx. It's a good idea, although I really don't want the whole world to know. Maybe next time.

  24. Very annoying that the website shows "No Entries".

    Anyway, the tagline I submitted:
    "Good Waze, better ways"

    ReplyDelete
  25. Build your own Waze

    ReplyDelete
  26. Requires a Facebook account? Boo hiss. I'm not signing up to Facebook for this. Why not use the waze account?

    ReplyDelete
  27. your friend on the road

    ReplyDelete
  28. Use waze avoid delayz

    ReplyDelete
  29. "Gaze the ways!" Is the tagline which I suggest. Gazing is equivalent to seeing watching things which are tooo far from us e.g. Star Gazing is the term used for watching stars, planets etc. Similary Waze helps us Gazing our roads by taking in turn help from Satelites which is equivalent to Gazing from the sky, hence "Gaze the ways!"

  30. How many entries in the contest? I hope you received a good feedback from us!

  31. hi
where can we view the entries?
the page you directed to shows nothing

    good luck to us all

  32. It's alive.

The slogens in in the lower-left corner under the "tagline" if You click on the title.
It is not so good, that the title is not equal with the tagline in most cases.
So just look around for each tagline!

  33. two of the same entry..
their is one that isn't even a tagline!
