Have important feedback or ideas that you'd like to share with us?

We can't really stress it enough: your feedback means the world to us. It lets us know what we're doing right, it shows us what areas need improvement and it gives us ideas we never even had ourselves - in short, it's essential for making Waze the absolute best it can be. That's why Fej, our VP of Community and Operations, and Yael, our VP of Product and Marketing, made a quick visit to Paris and Milan this week to meet with a few users we picked at random to hear more about what you guys think, face-to-face. While this was a short trip and we were only able to connect with a relatively small number of you, we really want to know more. Have ideas or feedback that you'd like to share with us about the product? Drop Yael a line at yael@waze.com and let us know what's on your mind!

  2. One thing I always feel with Waze is that the UI is small. I got mine in a carkit above my transmission poke and I have trouble pressing the right button to dismiss an error or confirm something on my screen.

I can only imagine the trouble someone has to go through who has his carkit up on the windshield. The letters are big enough but other things you sometimes need to do while driving are hard with the small buttons. Reporting an accident for instance.

  3. Thanks fore great application!

Would be grate to have configurable alerts when you don't use phone car-holder. By example set up vibration if police trap detected in 5km radius.
Then you can leave your phone in pocket, but will know that something is going on on road.

  4. I am quite green with Waze still, but I think it would be good if we would be able to report roadworks, SOS phones and gas stations.

  5. Your product is excellent and I use it often.
There are only two things that would be comfortable in a navigation device:
the current location (address and city)
the possibility of including the speed limits of roads

    sincerely

  6. You see that as something you would set in settings? How about voice alerts for anything you need to know ahead? latest version went a few steps in this direction. Did you get a chance to experience it?

  7. Yeah - that 's totally right. The new UI we are now working on is significantly less cluttered and bigger buttons. We also have voice commands and text to speach on our road map. That's a few months down the road but something to look forward to....

  8. Hey Mika - you can currently report road works under Hazard. But we have a better solution planned for future versions... For Gas stations we are more likely to parner with a company that does that + provides prices and more info... thanks for the feedback and hope you'll enjoy waze.

  9. Hey Marnix. We are in beta in most OSs and versions, because of the frequency in which versions are released that doesn't allow to fully optimize to the level which the industry considers beyond beta. We are aware of issues with BB and are working on them, but if you encounter problems it would help if you contacted our support. you should receive a reply within a couple of days. thanks

  10. Maybe an idea to add lane direction to the client.

For cartouche it's maybe a good idea if you could edit roads by how many lanes thay have.
Also for junctions. So whe count assign changing / merging lanes.

I think it is better if the client would say something like:
    In 1.5 km keep left.
    In 800 meters turn left.
    Keep left.
    Turn left.

    Something like that.

  11. Have it 'learn' routes quicker. I've been using Waze for over a week now and it still gives me weird instuctions to get to places,

For example, when driving to and from work, I drive on only one long road. Waze instructs me to go through neightborhoods, small sidestreets, and takes me to the nearest highway which is actually way out of the way (and 10-15 minutes longer).

  12. Oh excellent! Cant wait! Forgot to mention what others said. Waze is a great application for sure. Just need more users!! /holland here

  13. The thing i hate about Waze is not being able to pause it when i'm at a service station, or pop into a dairy. I have to close it and reopen it, or it counts it as being bad traffic for that road.

    ReplyDelete
  14. All or even one of the points below will be nice:

    - The ability to pause a journey without quitting the application.
    - Better handling for traffic lights, multi-level roads and intersections.
    - Simplified map editor (just look at openstreetmaps).
    - RSS feeds for new releases including including BETAs.
-Allow car manufacturers and other navigation providers to include waze traffic information as an extra layer in their products perhaps through the use of an open API and if you have to, licensing agreements although if you are able to keep it open it might just become an open standard.

    Regards!

  15. When arrive waze for hd7????

  16. Been using Waze for over a year now and love it. However, we have very few roads mapped here in Northern Ireland and what has been mapped has been done by me, gibbyni and a very small group of people. Mapping would be made much easier if Cartouche was speeded up and given some much needed improvement to server responsiveness. Frequent glitches, server dropouts and the 9 days or so it takes to go from road recording to editing to live map make map editing laborious. I hear a new Cartouche version is on the way and really hope these issues are addressed. I've tried recommending Waze to friends and without the much needed mapping they're not convinced.

  17. There's plenty of feedback and in the forums! Maybe spend some more time in there with the regulars instead of going on paid vacations.

  18. I ♥ this app! I try to use it EVERY DAY ~ I am on the highway weekdays starting around 6:30am until 6pm; Except it forces closed often on my Android (Hero). Recently, there have been many days that I can't even access the app at all, but that doesn't stop me from attempting it about every 15 minutes... It does make my drive more fun w the candies fpr points on the live map. I specifically LOVE the speedometer. The fact that I can see live traffic speeds, accidents, police speed traps and any other problems on my route (not to mention red light cameras and other wazers info)means I REALLY MISS it when I can't access it!!

By the way, I agree that it would be a great to add gas station locations to the app HOWEVER, also add the gas stations w the lowest prices as well. With gas prices $$ on the rise, I think would prove to be a very helpful option to an already brilliant app!!!

    Thank you !!

  20. Hi Kirsty - Doesn't the "are you stuck in traffic?" pop up hehlp solve the problem and allows dismissing what the system thinks may be traffic?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hey Peter. This was implemented in the version that is just about to be submitted) in addition we'll have in the version that follows text to speech, and names of roads you should exit to will be voice prompted. Let us know if that improved things once you get to try it out.

  22. Jeb - this is being checked, we've heard several reports and experienced it as well in some countries. If you can send support logs with details of where and when it happend + phone type that could help. Thanks,
    Yael

  23. A new cartouch is in the works. Much faster and much friendlier. We hope to release start testing it with a small number of users during April. I think you guys will like it :)

  24. With regard to Kirsty and Yael comments, I find the "are you stuck in traffic" doesn't work very well, sometimes not appearing at all. Using the latest Android beta. I have only seen it once while stuck in traffic.

  25. UK Base maps please.

  26. Granville - do you remember if when you didn't get it it was on small roads? We didn't implement this feature on small roads because every red light can suggest you're in traffic.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The images should be provided by google, bing doesn't update the images so is hard to build roads where aren't images from them.

  28. I suggest better communication with the daily users and editors. We are spending a lot of time editing, and we would appreciate when troubles arise that you let us know about what is happening. For instance with all the cartouche problems or routing server problem that happen since several monthes for now, it is very frustrating to be ignored.

  29. I would love to see red light camera alerts, and having the ability to add them to the Live Map via laptop computer.

  30. The road maps are all not very accurate. Please allow more people to edit it instead of having to have some permissions. I can't even edit the wrong nearby my neighborhood, I can't even help out much.

Also when I zoom out I only see major highways, I would prefer there is a settings to set to display even small roads. So that I can see where is where instead of waiting for the name to appear.

Thanks and good progress, keep up the good work!

  31. We need a "teach" button, where we can teach to waze the route we normally use, without waiting its to learn it. I do two different routes to reach the office and it would be great if waze could tell me which is the faster that day. Thanks.

  32. I use waze everyday on my HTC incredible (verizon) going to and from work (100 miles roundtrip). I would love for Waze to:

    1. Be able to report something, even if there isn't a data connection.
    2. See a better mapping interface.
2a. reduce the visibility of water (lakes, streams), it's clutter
2b. improve junctions of main roads, if two highways are joined by ramps, and I'm zoomed up a couple levels, it looks like the roads aren't connected.
2c. show traffic as 2 separate lines (it's hard to tell by looking at the little arrows which direction the red traffic applies to).
2d. show direction of travel in reported alerts. Also a choice for which side of the road is better would be nice (i.e. Accident - Keep Right)
2e. if it gets dark while I'm driving, it would be nice if theit auto dimmed (appears to only auto dim on startup)
    3. See the stats fixed. I went from 2800-3200 points a week to 100-2000. thank goodness I already got the crown. :)

  33. One feature I think would be great for functionality and safety while driving would be to queue reports so that you can comment and finalise them properly when you've stopped driving (on the device). A friend mentioned that on his Blackberry it has a message saying not to do it while driving for safety, so the concern is already there, but on my Android I have to complete the report to continue using the system normally.
