We’re Giving Away 10 iPods in our Easter Roadgoodie Hunt!

Remember the fun you had participating in easter egg hunts as a kid? Well, now’s the time to reenact those happy memories out on the road with Waze’s Easter Roadgoodie Hunt. Grab the kiddies (if you have any) and hit the road with the intention to collect the full set of five goodies. For each complete set you munch, you’ll get one raffle ticket for your chance to win a brand new iPod Touch! We’re giving away 10 of ‘em, so the chances are pretty sweet this time around…

Here’s how to participate:

  • Download the newest version of Waze by visiting the iPhone Appstore, the Android Market, or your device's app store.

  • Make sure you’re a registered user with a valid email address on file – you can check or update this under ‘Settings’

  • Then simply munch as many road goodies as you can! This time around we have bunnies (5 pts.), Easter baskets (8 pts.), blue eggs (10 pts.), pink eggs (20 pts.) and the slightly more elusive golden eggs (25 pts.). Note that the more points each goodie is worth, the more rare it will be on the map.

  • For each complete set of five you’ll be awarded one raffle ticket. There is no limit to the amount of complete sets (and therefore raffle tickets) that you can rack up for yourself. Be aware that after munching one kind of road goodie, you can collect the same roadgoodie again and it will count towards your next set.

  • At the end of the game, we'll conduct a raffle among all eligible users, and will give away 10 brand new iPods (Touch 8GB).

During the contest, if you’d like a status update to better know where you stand, simply log onto the ‘My Dashboard’ section of the Waze website to see:

  • How many complete sets of 5 you have

  • How many days are left in the contest

  • How many goodies are needed to complete your next set of 5 - and which roadgoodies those are.

The easiest and safest way to visit your dashboard is on www.waze.com/dashboard (for US and Canada) or world.waze.com/dashboard (for anywhere else in the world), and we recommend logging into your dashboard from a computer, rather than from your smartphone. Note that you'll need to log in to the dashboard using your waze username and password. If you don't remember your username, check under Settings>Profile in the Waze app for that information – you can also register there if you haven’t done so already. ‘My Dashboard’ is also the place to update your email address if it has changed since the time that you initially registered with us. Lastly, if you don't recall your password, visit www.waze.com/forgot_password.

That’s about it!

We’ll let you guys go for the gold all the way through Sunday, April 24th, and we’ll draw the winners and announce them here on the blog, April 25th. Hope you have lotsa fun out there searching for bunnies, baskets and eggs and feel free to let us know what you think about this new kind of contest in the comments section below…enjoy!

  1. I looked in my market for the update. But there is none for Waze. What should be the latest version?

    Using HTC Hero

  5. So I'm staring at my dashboard right now, but I see NOTHING about how many things I've collected or received. Anything in particular I'm doing wrong?

  6. I saw these roadgoodies also last weekend and I collected some points, are those valid for this contest or was it just a "test"?!

  7. Briaviao, we uploaded them last week just for testing purposed, the contest starts from scratch today. Good luck if you intend to play!

  8. unwallflowere - there should be a small animated section at the bottom right of your dashboard related to the contest. Updates should be there. If they are not please email us support@waze.com with more info about your location and phone type.

  11. Hi,

It seems that the goodies I collected on Saturday on the test run have disappeared from the map.

Will they come back or have they gone for good?

  14. I ran over a few goodies and they did not register. Three gold ones as a matter of fact, one on the Embarcadero in SF, another on Bridgeway in Sausalito and finally one on 4th Street in San Rafael, CA. What gives??

  15. I was really excited about this - more candy, more points with the candy, and even a giveaway! However....on my way home just now I had 4 out of the 5. So I drove a little out of my way to get the 5th one. And...right before I would get it, Waze would lose gps. I was in a light traffic residential area where I never have problems. Only a few blocks from my house. That seemed odd so I went around a few blocks and came back. Lost gps again at the exact same spot. Only for the 20 feet or so where the 5th "goodie" was. Third time, same exact result. Gotta admit, that's a little weird. So I'm bummed. $4/gallon gas is too much to even try getting any entries if it's going to continue to mysteriously never qualify for entries. :(

  16. Like Briaviao, I collected loads of goodies last week when the first appeared - the thing is, I collected all the goodies in my local area at the time, and now there are no new ones *sob* What's a girl to do when her egg supply has dried up? ;0) (apart from adoption...)

  17. For the ones that cannot see the Context section in the Dashboard: I had the same problem, but I solved it by reloading the page. Try clicking the Reload button or clearing the cache.

  18. I have the same problem of Valerieb (nice name). All the roadgoodies I collected last week now are not showing. My area is pretty empty! :(

  19. Briaviao, Valerieb: Waze said that last week was a test run for goddies, they don't count for this contest, just some extra points for the user, this happened to me too.

This time I am collecting new goddies, already 3 sets done, with the next golden egg i'll have 4 sets, i'll make changes on my regular way to find these golden eggs :)

question for Yael and Wazers: are the goodies per user or per map? i mean, are the goodies collected in the streets in which i pass still available to others waze users or once someone collects them they are gone?

  20. If you drive over a goodie and can't collect it, or if you see one disappear before you reach it, try closing the app and reloading it. That's worked for me everytime that has happened so far.

  21. Anybody else having problems with Waze on Windows Mobile 6.5 since this Easter stuff started? The application crashes before even showing the bunny Waze logo (I can see it on an Android).

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey tech_engineer - it is a parameter we set. So we can define how many times a goodie will appear to other wazers before it is removed from the map. the number is often 2 but in this case each goodie has its own definition.

  23. I am loving the status on my Dashboard!! I've always wished for something like this with every contest. Thanks for adding it!

    ReplyDelete
  24. why don't you show the number of each goodie we rafled ?

  25. Eggs and baskets are fun to run over, but my wife won't let me run over any bunnies if she is in the car :( Seriously, tonight we were driving home and there was a bunny ahead of us according to Waze and she told me that I had to turn before we hit the bunny!
