Don’t forget Timmy or Fido in the car with new Child Reminder safety feature

Did you know in the US alone, nearly 40 children and hundreds of pets die of heat stroke from being left in a hot car each year?

For those who want an extra reminder, Waze introduced our latest safety feature, Waze Child Reminder alerts, included in this week’s app update. After navigating to any destination, this customizable, opt-in alert appears at the end of your ride and reminds you to check your car before you leave. To set up, make sure you have the most recent version of Waze downloaded from your app store and go to Menu > Settings > General > Child Reminder > Turn on “Allow Reminders”

Child Reminder alerts can be updated and turned off or on at any time from the Settings menu. You can also customize your message to include your child or children’s names or set as a pet reminder, too. To customize your message, follow the steps above, then select Custom Message > Type to add your custom message > Tap “Done”.

Time driving is usually spent planning next steps - what we’ll do when we reach our destination, what to make for dinner, which route to take. We hope this feature serves as a reminder to be present and remember any little ones who cannot speak up when it’s time to get out of the car.

WAZE. OUTSMARTING TRAFFIC, TOGETHER.
