Rock the Road with Waze and Spotify

What makes a drive go from functional to fun? If you ask us, it’s all about the music.

That’s why today we’re excited to announce that Waze and Spotify are partnering to bring your favorite Spotify playlists directly into the Waze app. Get ready for that daily commute, upcoming cross-country road trip, weekend getaway – or even traffic jam – to turn way up.

With Waze, you’re already covered with the most reliable navigation. And now, thanks to Spotify, your killer playlists (and even the embarrassing ones you’d prefer to listen to with the windows up…) are all on the very same screen. No more awkward flipping back-and-forth between apps or ending your favorite Friday-in-traffic tune to find the quickest way to the grocery store.

Now for the details: starting today, this feature will roll out to Android users over the next few weeks (iOS Wazers: we’ll keep you posted!).

The Waze + Spotify integration makes it easy for you to:

  • Start navigating with Waze from within Spotify
  • Access their Spotify playlists from within Waze
  • When your car is at a complete stop, switch between apps with one tap, for an uninterrupted driving and listening experience

How it works –

From the Waze app
The Spotify icon is visible on Waze if Spotify is installed on your device. One tap opens Spotify and the last song you listened to starts playing automatically. Your Waze navigation experience is uninterrupted (yay!).

From the Spotify app
The Waze icon is located at the top of your Spotify drive mode screen if Waze is installed on your device. Tap to start navigating, as your music continues to play in the background. Switching back to Spotify is easy with just one tap (when you’re at a complete stop, of course).

Important note: Waze wants you to stay safe, so the app will prevent drivers from browsing while the car is in motion.

Now go craft your most epic “Spring 2017” Spotify playlist and rock the road.

The Waze Team
